You KNOW you’re a writer and you want to learn more of what it takes to become even better. And this class is JUST FOR YOU.

But before I go any further – a quick introduction to myself. For those who may not know (or have forgotten) – my name is Roopa Swaminathan, AKA The Messy Optimist, and I’m a National Award-winning writer and filmmaker. I’m also an academic who teaches creative writing to college students (for over five years now). Also, I’ve taught Creative Writing to non-native English-speakers in Shanghai for many years.

So…back to this course. What does the Advance level of the CW course contain?

We will continue what we started in the Intermediate Level and wrap up Fiction writing. In this module we will learn about Themes, Setting, Point-of-View (POV) and then segue seamlessly to learning how to write Plays. With the latter – you will get a basic introduction to playwriting and then specific lectures on tragedies, comedies and one-act plays.

By the end of this extensive Advanced writing class you will have learned how to successfully write well-etched and complete short stories as well as write a short one-act play.

This course contains pre-recorded video lectures for over Eight hours. Each lesson comes with writing exercises for you to practice your writing skills.
