Street Art Sunday – Batam, Indonesia – 1
by The Messy Optimist
So – every Sunday – whichever part of the world I am – I’m going to get out images of raw street art that I find and post it here. It can be anything from paintings, chalk drawings on walls, graffiti, murals, photographs, weird store and restaurant names and logos, interesting and striking doors and walls and gates, interesting play on language – just about anything that is unique and artistic – by way of colors and language – I’m going to feature it here.
The Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Temple in Batam, Indonesia is home to some of the sweetest, cutest and laugh-out-loud sculptures of the laughing Buddha. There are so many of the laughing Buddhas that you are hard-pressed to figure out where to look at. I felt such a sense of zen-like calm when I was there. You are surrounded by peace and tranquility. And you can’t help but giggle and rub the bellies of these large Buddhas.
Absolutely adorable!
